Diwali Means ‘rows of lights’

Diwali is a big Indian festival celebrated in all the regions in India. It is predominantly a five-day festival, with a lot of customs and rituals being followed each day. The word Diwali means ‘rows of lights’. People prepare for the festival weeks ahead by cleaning and decorating their premises. The main festival day falls on the no-moon day. Celebrated with a lot of vigor and gaiety by people of every religion, the magical effect of Diwali creates a joyous and festive atmosphere.

It is said that Goddess of Wealth, Lakshmi enters the house that is brilliantly illuminated. Diwali has much manifestation. Dhanteras marks the start of the festival, on this day goddess of prosperity, Lakshmi is worship. The celebration is associated with the returning of Lord Rama to his Kingdom in Ayodhya after fourteen years of exile.
